Prickly Pears

The prickly pears have a woody stem and the branches produce sprouts full of thorns.

The flowers have many meaty sepals arranged in several series. The petals are oval oblong and the predominant color is bright yellow.

The fruits have an outer surface that is covered with thorns. These are oblong in shape with colors ranging from yellow to reddish.

The inner flesh, very sweet with the same exterior color but darker, is juicy and contains woody seeds. The harvest of prickly pears and their consumption is from August to December.
